Kevin & Dylan's Story

Growing up at BTC

Kevin's Story

My family and I first came to BTC in 2004. I grew up through Achievers, KidsChurch and Youth. It has been good to grow up with people my age in the church.

I went to Soul Survivor 2016 and 2019. I don't remember the first one, but the second one was very good. The worship in the Big Top was great, the atmosphere was completely different to everything else I've been to. Meeting people from different churches was a great experience as well.

I was baptised on the same day as my brother Dylan, in September 2018. I'm very happy to have been baptised in this church that I've grown up in and I'm now on the BTC Kids Team. When I'm up there, I do the AV work.

In March 2019 I had spinal surgery. I am grateful that while I was going through the process of surgery and recovery, my church family was praying for me.

I'm grateful to God for all the people I've been able to meet as a result of being here at BTC.

Dylan's Story

I have been coming to BTC for pretty much my whole life since 2004, and I was dedicated here in June 2004.  I grew up through Achievers (now called BTC Foundations), BTC Kids and BTC Youth and am now in BTC YoungLife. I learned a lot about the Christian faith in these different places and had a lot of fun when we went out for different events like Soul Survivor, where I literally got lost around the campsite multiple times and learned much about seeking God by myself.

I’ve been serving as part of the worship team playing the keys from early 2019 and being a part of the worship team has taught me many different things, from how to work with a band - something completely new to me as a soloist - to how to improvise on stage when the Holy Spirit takes the music in a different direction to what we had previously planned. It has helped me become more confident as I am on a stage and have to deal with the self imposed “pressure" to not make mistakes, so overcoming, or at least learning to deal with that pressure has made me more confident in my music and as a person in general.

I have grown in my faith in trusting God to give me strength and confidence to try out new things, I enjoy plans and being told exactly what is going to happen in advance so I can be ready for it. I have become more ready to experience new things even when i'm not ready for them, realising that although I have my plan, God’s plan may be different and I need to be ready for that.

I give thanks and glory to God for being able to be a part of this church, as it has really made me a better, more well-rounded person.
